Role Description:
Explainers are paid student educators who engage visitors with hands-on activity carts and interactive demonstrations on topics such as the forces of flight and the effects of space on the human body.
Explainers are expected to work a minimum of 15 hours per month but can work up to 39 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible according to your academic and extracurricular commitments, with shift opportunities seven days a week. Explainers can work at the location on the National Mall in Washington, DC, or at the Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia.
Requirements:
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Be enrolled in a degree-granting program
- Maintain a 2.7 GPA
- Have good written and verbal communication skills
- Be willing to attend ongoing training and conduct self-study
Applicants from all majors and academic backgrounds are encouraged. The most important thing is that you are interested in and excited about sharing aviation and space concepts.
