Intercollegiate Forecasting Tournament

Posted in Undergrad Opportunities

Posted on 4/11/2024: Think you’re particularly good at predicting events before they happen? Want to practice your research and analysis skills? Want free Chipotle and something to do on a Saturday? Join us at 11 a.m. April 20th at George Washington University for a forecasting tournament! The event will go from 11:00 to 4:00, with time after for games and socializing.

How the competition works:

Students will form teams of between 3-5 people (bring your own, or we’ll assign you one there), and be given a series of questions about future events. You’ll have two hours to research, discuss, and plan, before assigning probabilities to each event. Three months from now, once the events have resolved, we’ll declare winners. During the competition we’ll have breaks for lunch, as well as other quick forecasting rounds and time for socializing.

Prizes:

There will be cash prizes available to the winners (at the moment, our prize pool is around 2,000 dollars), as well as internships available with Metaculus.

Food:

There will be free food.

Location:

We’ll be at the student center at George Washington University, 800 21st St NW, Washington, DC 20052, room 302, checkin starting at 11:00 a.m., and will go until 4 p.m. The location is metro accessible.
