Fellowship Opportunity at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Financial Stability Oversight Council
Posted in Undergrad Opportunities
Posted on 9/16/2024: My name is Colin Foos and I am an Operations Analyst at the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC), located within the U.S. Department of the Treasury. The Council is an inter-agency group chaired by the Treasury Secretary, with members from the heads of each Federal financial regulatory body, in addition to certain state representatives.
I wanted to reach out regarding a fellowship opportunity with FSOC. Our Junior Fellowship program is specifically tailored for recent or upcoming graduates of four-year degree programs. I think it could be of interest to your students looking to work in financial or economic policy.
The role is a two-year, full-time fellowship program at the Office of the Financial Stability Oversight Council (more information about the role here and the Council here ). FSOC brings together federal and state financial and insurance regulators to monitor U.S. financial stability and assess and mitigate potential risks to the financial system, and the Council’s work is supported by our staff at the Treasury. We’re looking for students with a background in economics, finance, public policy, or similar fields. They’d likely be helping conduct policy research on some of our larger policy priorities (which currently include issues such as climate-related financial risk and nonbank financial intermediation), working with financial market data, and helping to facilitate FSOC’s Council and committee meetings. Fellows would also gain exposure to a host of staffers and more senior leaders at FSOC’s various member agencies.
The application materials are listed on our website and are due on October 31, 2024. This would be a great opportunity for students interested in graduate school at a later date (as it’s only a fixed, two-year term), students who want a taste for federal government work, or just students broadly interested in these policy areas.
Thank you,
Colin Foos
