Applications For 2026-2027 Mercatus Fellowships Are Now Open!

Posted on 12/9/2025: We are thrilled to announce that Mercatus fellowship applications for the 2026-27 academic year are now open! If you, or someone you know, is interested in the foundations of classical liberal political economy and its contemporary relevance for economic, political, and social life, please apply.
Fellows get to read, contest, and expand upon key texts in political economy in a series of in-depth discussions with peers and scholars, exploring their real-world implications, and refining their research and career plans. Fellows also join an extensive network of alumni who are interested in and working to advance social progress and change.
Who should apply to our programs and what are the key deadlines?
- Students at, or applying to, George Mason University. The PhD Fellowship, for full-time study and training to become a PhD in economics, is due February 1. Other students at Mason have until May 30 to apply to our Undergraduate and Graduate Scholars programs.
- Graduate students from any discipline and university. Apply by March 15.
- Undergraduate students and working professionals considering graduate school. Apply by April 15.
- Early-stage academics. Apply by April 15.
