Economic Research Program @ Bridgewater Associates

Posted in Undergrad Opportunities

Posted on 2/10/2026: Markets are shaped by cause-and-effect relationships—between policy and growth, inflation and behavior, risk and opportunity. At Bridgewater, investing begins with deep research: breaking down complex, ambiguous systems, testing hypotheses against reality, and systemizing what we learn so it can be applied consistently in markets.

This program is designed for students who are drawn to applying rigorous thinking to complex problems. Some participants may come in with experience or knowledge of markets; some will not. What matters is an interest in understanding how interconnected forces work together, comfort with uncertainty, and a desire to apply disciplined research to real-world outcomes.

You’ll spend the day in discussion and debate with Bridgewater investors, gaining exposure to how macroeconomic research is developed, challenged, and translated into portfolio decisions. Karen will lead the program alongside senior members of the investment team, sharing how she approaches research and decision-making at scale.
