In memory of Professor Schwartz

With sorrow and grief we announce that Georgetown’s Economics Department has lost one of our foundational members, a pillar of our community, Marius Schwartz, who peacefully passed away on Tuesday, June 9.  He was utterly unique – brilliant, funny, insightful, kind, irreverent, generous, and a firm believer in truth.  He had an enormous impact on generations of students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, on his department colleagues, and on the profession as a whole.  He will be sorely missed.
