The Department of Economics honors four retiring professors

This spring, the Department of Economics honors four retiring faculty, Susan Vroman, John Rust, Luca Anderlini and Jim Albrecht (l-r above). The contributions that these esteemed colleagues have made to the Department and the profession cannot be overstated.
Susan Vroman
Susan earned her Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from Johns Hopkins University and holds an A.B. in Mathematics from Mount Holyoke College. She began her career at the Fed Board of Governors in 1974, and spent a year as Senior Economist, Council on Wage and Price Stability, Executive Office of the President. She started as an assistant professor here in 1978, promoted to full in 1990.
Jim Albrecht
Jim earned his BA from UC Santa Barbara in 1970, and an M.A. in Statistics and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. He began his career as an assistant professor at Columbia, followed by stints at NYU and UC Irvine, finally coming to Georgetown in 1987 as an associate professor. He was promoted to full in 1992.
Luca Anderlini
Luca earned B.A. in Statistical Sciences from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 1981 and his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Cambridge in 1987. Prior to joining Georgetown, Luca held academic positions at the University of Cambridge and the University of Southampton. He came to Georgetown in 2001 as a full professor.
John Rust
John earned his BA in Math from University of Pennsylvania and his PhD from MIT 1983. He began his career as an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin, moved to Yale, then Maryland. Arrived at Georgetown in 2012 as a full professor, and was made University Professor in 2022.
