This is an effort by the department of economics to provide some of the best economic web sites containing comprehensive information on: economic and financial resources; statistical resources for economics; economic systems,working papers and other valuable information. Certain data may appear on more than one of the following resources.
- Economics Departments, Institutes and Research Centers in the World EDIRC is provided by the Economic Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.
- The Information Economy, a collection of documents by the economist Hal Varian, provides links to the economics of the internet, government resources, intellectual property, international economics, pricing, miscellaneous resources and policy and law.
- American Antitrust Institute
- Dr. T’s Econlinks.com provides a comprehensive, yet concise, index of useful links for Economists and anyone interested in Economics, Business and Finance.
Government Information
- The Bureau of Statistics provides links to the economy at a glance, data, key search of BLS web pages, survey and programs, cost of living, price indexes, statistical sites and research papers.
- The U.S. Census Economic Indicators provides the latest indicators on U.S. international trade, manufacturing and trade, inventories, advance monthly retail sales, housing starts, manufacture’s shipments and other indicators.

Finance Material on the Internet
- FIN Web – a financial web site that provides an extensive list of links to economic and finance related topics, financial journals ,working papers, financial data bases and other sites.
- Journal of Finance Web site– provides numerous links to financial institutions, finance journals, institutional working papers, research centers, educational resources, derivatives, and sites of interest to students.
- Virtual Finance Library – provides a comprehensive list of links to investment banks, finance on the WWW, popular finance web sites, including companies on the NYSE, NASDAQ and other financial sites. It also provides a financial data finder.
Economic Working Papers and Journals on the Internet
- Economics Working Papers Archive – This award winning service (provided by the Department of Economics of Washington University in St. Louis), is devoted to the free distribution of working papers. There are 22 subject areas, along with a test posting area, a meetings area, an area for programs and an area for data. Unfortunately, many features of the Archive are not properly working.
- The NetEc. Also hosted by WUSTL, this search system provides links to printed and electronic working papers; code for economic and econometrics; internet resources on economics; and, comprehensive usage statistics.
- Seminar Papers from the Institute for International Economic Studies – a European research institute which focuses on: macroeconomics analysis; foreign trade; and general theory and methodology. It provides a complete list of downloadable seminar papers. In addition, the Institute provides many useful links to economic resources, a WWW Virtual Library on economic links and other valuable information.
