Program Overview

In one calendar year, MA-PECO students will immerse themselves in the study of policy, behavior and choice. This program provides:

  • An international experience at the heart of global policy-making decision powers, both in Europe (Brussels) and the U.S. (Washington, DC)
  • Frontier training in formal and quantitative political economy, with a strong emphasis on economic policy
  • On-site events at international institutions and think-tanks
  • Access to active alumni networks of Georgetown and Solvay

Program participants attend classes in Brussels in the fall and spring terms and in Washington, DC in the summer term.

A distinguishing feature of the MA-PECO program is the involvement of senior faculty from both institutions who are leading scholars in their respective field. The program also draws on the large community of economists in both Brussels and Washington, DC to act as instructors of the specialized classes. The unique combination of academics and practitioners across two continents provides an enriching experience.

The program taught me a new way to think about the intersection of public policy and economics. It forced me to dive deeper into the intersection of the two and changed my understanding of how, and often times why, certain policy decisions are made. It was an all-around amazing experience and has helped me excel in my career.
