Masters in Political Economy
MA-PECO is now accepting applications for the 2021-22 academic year.
The Masters of Arts in Political Economy (MA-PECO) program is an innovative partnership between the Georgetown Economics Department and the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management of the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Solvay Brussels). Successful MA-PECO graduates earn an advanced certification from Solvay Brussels and a master’s degree from Georgetown. The first class graduated in the summer of 2018.
The program prepares the next generation of economists to rigorously analyze the key policy questions of the 21st century. Political economy evaluates and addresses both global and local economic challenges by understanding the institutions and political settings in which these challenges arise.
In studying a diverse curriculum taught by numerous brilliant professors from two world-class institutions, I had the opportunity to study under a number of circumstances. By gaining such a wide range of experiences in just twelve months, I am now more adaptable to different environments such that I can take better advantage of new opportunities and respond to new challenges.Kyle Blocher, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT ANALYST, CLEARWAY ENERGY
Because of Covid-related obstacles to international travel and to in-person meetings with policymakers and policy analysts, the MA-PECO program is suspended for the 2020-21 academic year. As a result of advances in Covid prevention, we are hopeful that the program can resume with the 2021-22 academic year, which is currently our goal. We anticipate that the final decision whether to restart will be made late next spring. This decision will be taken in view of public health considerations as well as indications that enrollments will be sufficient to promote a robust program.
