Major in Economics (COL, FLL)
The Economics major requires the successful completion of ten (10) courses in Economics and one (1) in Math:
- Principles of Microeconomics (Econ 001)
- Principles of Macroeconomics (Econ 002)
- Microeconomic Theory (Econ 101 or Econ 103)
- Macroeconomic Theory (Econ 102 or Econ 104)
- Economic Statistics (Econ 121)
- Introduction to Econometrics (Econ 122)*
- Four (4) electives, including at least two 400-level courses.
- Math-035 (Calculus I)**
*(Note: Econometrics must be taken prior to the start of the senior year.)
**(Note 1: This course must be completed before enrolling in any 100 level courses. Note 2: A score of 4 or 5 on the AB calculus AP exam suffices.)
Students considering majoring in Economics should consult with the Undergraduate Program Coordinator, or one of the departmental advisors, to ensure proper counseling and course selection. Alternatively, students can discuss their plans with any professor in the department.
Graduate Study
Students who anticipate graduate study in economics should take the Calculus sequence in the Mathematics Department (Math 035, 036, 137 and 150), the Honors courses in Micro and Macro Theory (Econ 103 & 104) and Mathematics for Economists (Econ 425).
Non-Georgetown Course Credit

Prof Arik Levinson serves as Director of Undergraduate Studies and is responsible for the Economics Major in Georgetown College. Send him an email with your questions or meet him during office hours, which are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 - 11:00 am in ICC 571.
Undergraduate Coordinator
Kerstin Göbel: can answer questions about the Economics Major and can sign forms for Major Declaration, Study Abroad, Transfer Credit, etc. Her office hours are Mondays - Thursdays from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm in ICC 580A.
