Economics Honor Society

Omicron Delta Epsilon

The Georgetown University Chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the Economics honor society, is open to members of the Junior and Senior Classes of Georgetown University who have completed six or more classes in economics, and have maintained GPA's of at least 3.0 within both the field of economics and their overall academic career.

Omicron Delta Epsilon sponsors several speakers each semester, past speakers have included Dr. John Page, author of The East Asian Miracle, and Dr. Steven Salop, a recognized expert on economic regulation and Law professor at Georgetown University Law Center, as well as Nobel laureate James Buchanan.  More recently, Dr. John Boorman of the IMF and Professor Bruce F. Davie of the U.S. Treasury have given talks.

The honor society is also constructing an alumni network, where past members of the Georgetown Chapter remain in contact with the society, to advise current undergraduates on useful courses and career opportunities. In addition the society cooperates in organizing the tutoring program, which offers one-on-one tutoring sessions in the macro-and micro-economic principles courses.

We currently have about thirty members. Omicron Delta Epsilon welcomes all with questions or suggestions, as well as aspiring members, to contact:

Faculty Advisor: Professor Marius Schwartz
