Letter to Prospective Students

Thank you for your interest in our graduate program in economics. The PhD program in Economics is a full-time program that admits students with outstanding analytical skills; a strong preparation in mathematics is essential for successful application. Most students in the PhD program receive assistantships that cover tuition and provide stipends.

Applicants who want to be considered for financial assistance must apply by January 1, 2010. The latest date to apply for the program (without financial assistance) is April 1, 2010. Applications are available via the Graduate School's webpage at http://grad.georgetown.edu/.

In addition to the full-time PhD program, the department also offers a number of joint degree programs. These include MS (Foreign Service)/MA (Economics), Ph.D. (Economics)/MA (German and European Studies), and MPP (Public Policy)/MA (Economics). Applicants must apply to each program separately indicating on the application their interest in the joint program.

The Graduate School catalogue, the PhD Program brochure, and information about the ILADES/Georgetown Program are all available electronically at the world wide web sites noted below. Through the web, you will find all the information you need about our program and the requirements for admissions. If you do not have access to the world wide web, please contact the Graduate School for paper copies of our materials.

Please send application materials directly to the Graduate Admissions Office. Please DO NOT send e-mail to individual faculty members.

Once again, thank you for your interest in Georgetown University; we look forward to receiving your application.
